The Melanoma & Skin Cancer Nurses Organisation (MSCNO) is an independent, national, nurse-led group that has been established to share and exchange expert knowledge with other nurses.
The steering committee of the MSCNO includes extraordinary healthcare professionals consisting of clinical nurse consultants and specialist nurses based in Australia’s leading hospitals for melanoma and skin cancer care. Together, they support hundreds of patients through their melanoma and skin cancer journey each year.
The MSCNO is focused on supporting health care delivery to ensure optimal patient care and outcomes for Australians diagnosed with melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancer.
Membership
The MSCNO is now taking memberships. The Melanoma and Skin Cancer Nurse Hub is freely available to all nurses working in melanoma and skin cancer and for all nurses looking to develop their skills in the sector. We’re enthusiastic about growing the network of melanoma and skin cancer nurses around Australia. Membership of the Melanoma & Skin Cancer Nurses Organisation is free. You’ll receive an occasional newsletter, learn lots of new things and gain access to all sorts of other exciting opportunities!

Nurse-to-nurse model
The Melanoma & Skin Cancer Advocacy Network (MSCAN) commissioned EvoHealth to develop a Report Connecting Nurses to Nurses: A model for best practice care of skin cancer in Australia.
The Report noted: “A Nurse-to-Nurse model presents and enormous opportunity to improve patient experience and expand and nurture the critical nursing workforce in Australia. It will create a defined career pathway and scope for melanoma and skin cancer nurses, increase access to speciality trained nurses and result in better patient outcomes and reduced burden on the health system”.
One of the core functions recommended as part of Nurse-to-Nurse model is to develop an online platform that is inclusive, flexible and accessible to all nurses working across Australia.
